What Can We Kindly Do With All That Halloween Candy & Other Fun Stuff

It is no secret that I am a big advocate of Halloween. Adults, kids, parents or not – it’s just a great holiday with a month of spooky, scary and fun nonsense. When I lived in the south I got my first taste of how they do it in the country: guys with REAL chainsaws chasing you past the haunted house into the parking lot to your car (yep, that happened) and hayrides that drop you off in the middle of the woods and leave you there. California, we cannot hold a candle with Knott’s Scary Farm and the Queen […]

Free Kids Kindness Crafts Workshop & the Amazing New Anaheim Packing District This Sunday!

*Please see bottom for information on free kids kindness event at the Packing House Sunday 9/28 1:00-3:00. It’s probably quite apparent that the workload has been constant lately over here at ISP. We have been down to Camp Pendleton talking with Marines, Skype sessions with people doing amazing things outside the U.S. to see how we can support one another, helping people and schools in need currently and of course getting ready for our big launch (don’t forget about the almost daily giveaways). We are now slotted for next week as we are still waiting on an approval for a couple of things for […]

What Does the Infinite Smile Project Charity Do?|In a Difficult World, We Teach & Spread Kindness. Here’s How

Labor Day. Our treasured American holiday that celebrates the American Labor Movement and pays tribute to the workers who have made this country strong, prosperous, and proud to be who we are today. Oh right, and the other minor detail – we get the day off. We love our country and all that it stands for, but like anything else we could use a little bit of work, no? While all our followers are at the beach today we are fast at work at ISP today getting ready for the big September launch of our charity. Today is the perfect […]

The Real Story behind the Ice Bucket Epidemic

The Ice Bucket Challenge. Have I done it? No. Would I? Sure, but I would rather give the $100 donation for ALS directly instead as selfies and an all eyes on me video just makes me a bit uneasy. If you look at my past performing for thousands of fans in a stadium and teaching fitness in front of others you would think I love being on point in front of an audience but I much prefer sitting on the sidelines myself. Plus, everyone that knows me knows I hate the cold. I mean really hate the cold – […]

We May Not Be Able to Change the World Right Now, But We Can Do Our Best to Change Our Children

I am not one to watch the news as much as I used to. I always want to be up to date on the world events, politics and be able to carry on an intelligent conversation when required – however I can only take so much. I am one of those people that can’t just watch the devastation unfold on CNN and then go about my normal daily routine. I get sucked in and somehow physically can place myself in someone’s strife and heartache (ie. families of the Malaysian crashes or situations with ISIS), my empathy has no boundaries. Over […]

“Happy Birthday, Now Let’s Donate All Your Presents!”|Are We Mean Parents? Nope.

Have you ever told your 4 year old “Happy Birthday” then said, “Okay, now hand us all your presents”? We did, and I promise you it wasn’t as disastrous as you might think. I have mentioned previously that my twins get so much attention it should be illegal. Just the other day I picked them up from Disneyland with their Nanny and they hopped in the car with stuffed animals gripped in their arms and towering past their heads. I looked at our Nanny as if I couldn’t believe she gave into their requests for toys and she just looked […]

Summer of Kindness #6|Secret Messages of Kindness

In CA we are still have several weeks of summer left and are getting creative on how to keep the kids busy in a positive way. Everyone likes getting secret messages, right? For me, it’s reminiscent of Jr. High when you could send your friends a “candy gram” in class – nothing was more amazing and made your day even brighter by knowing someone was thinking of you. I did our secret messages with a group of preschoolers but even teens could make this one fun with their friends over the summer or once school starts. I know I would […]

Summer of Kindness Challenge #5: Art Mixed with Kindness & Love

Good morning ISP’ers! We received several emails about the finger painted artwork in our “How Loss Became My Best Teacher of Life” post so we decided to use this kindness idea for our summer kids kindness challenge week 5. These are Downey family masterpieces. My children have made these for people for various birthdays, special occasions, and as random acts of kindness for others feeling down. And let me tell you, they take their art pieces quite seriously – after all, they may be worth something someday. They are quite simple to make and as the girls say, they are […]

Summer of Kindness Challenge #4: Spread a Smile Edition

As more and more people are finding out about ISP I am receiving so many fun emails from the most amazing people. One last week was from a lady from Word Rocks who gave me this amazing idea in exchange for some smile wands. Fair trade I think. Word Rocks is exactly what you think it is, maybe. Basically they are wonderful, fun sayings or words written on rocks and left anywhere and everywhere people roam to brighten their day. As luck should have it we live near the beach so we spent some time last week finding some gorgeous rocks […]
